The third character in Daisychain named Billy, making it the most popular name in the whole RP. No, really.
A teenager from Earth-616 New York, which is a little bit different to the one in Daisychain in that it is full of people and some of them are super heroes. Billy is one of them, and, okay, he's a bit of an amateur and more than a bit of a fanboy, but he's totally fought in multiple alien invasions and a super hero civil war and stopped loads of criminal activity even if no-one's quite sure exactly how long he's been doing it. He's pretty smart in a nerd sort of way and generally a nice sort of guy, even if he's kind of cynical and not that charismatic and he's prone to being anxious and he kind of has a tendency to put his foot in his mouth. He heroes because he honestly wants to help people and believes with all his heart that it's the right thing to do as well as because omg this is the coolest thing ever (the coolest).
He has a preposterous origin story involving lost souls, Mephisto and magic that basically boils down to him being the reincarnation of one of Wanda "400 Babies" Maximoff's twin sons (the other one is Tommy Shepherd) and having a soul made out of demons or something. He is secretly proud of how convoluted it is. His (mostly) non-confusing, regular family, the ones he actually grew up with, raised him pretty normally, although he'll tell anyone who asks that his two younger brothers are obnoxious and that his mother is actually insane. His parents are, though, very accepting of ... more or less everything, from their son being part of a team of super heroes to the fact that the member of the team he's dating is another guy (also an alien shapeshifter, but that is an entire separate kettle of brainache).
He has the power to basically magically alter reality as he sees fit as long as he really wants it to change. He's been referred to as one of the most powerful mages on the planet, and the functions of his spells are apparently limitless in variety, but his lack of experience means he mostly uses his magic on a relatively small scale.
In Daisychain:
His power is greatly restricted, particularly as far as getting off the island or revealing important secret plot information is concerned, and he needs to concentrate harder in order to focus enough to do magic - and he can only cast a handful of spells before he has to go and nurse a killer migraine. His magic is usually accompanied by blue light, often from his hands, his eyes or both. You can tell when he's trying to cast a spell, because he'll be determinedly muttering what he wants to happen, over and over, in blue font, until it does. He can also generate lightning and fly a bit. In Daisychain, the most useful application of his magic is healing, but he's also used it for teleportation to help with rescue missions, locator spells and ... uh, redecorating. Among other things. His magic won't work if he can't concentrate or he can't hear his own voice, or if he doesn't actually want the intended result of the spell.
Being transported to an alternate, monster-stomped version of Manhattan where his powers don't work properly has freaked Billy out quite a bit, but he's adjusting gradually with the addition of a familiar face or two and given the chance to help out at every available opportunity: he's recently been involved in tunnel exploration, Mission: Central Park, and the Roosevelt Island rescue mission.
Billy was one of the citizens unfortunate enough to reach the injured Andrew Basil in time to be traumatised by his transformation into Basilfield; he was roughly a minute too late for his attempted healing spell to work, and he's having trouble letting go of his guilt over it. As such, he's even more determined to do everything he can to help people than he was before – his friends and teammates are only narrowly keeping him from wearing himself thin with the multitasking that his magic allows him (and so, he feels, obliges him) to do.
Despite his ability to teleport, he mostly gets around by bike so as not to use up his MP.
Character Relations
Tommy Shepherd (Speed) – Billy's brother, kind of, and his teammate. Tommy's pretty much on board by now with the theory that the Scarlet Witch is their magic soul mother or something, but Billy is much more enthusiastic about it and is more likely to try to explain it to people. Despite their not having met one another until they were sixteen, and despite the fact that Tommy is basically obnoxious incarnate in green spandex, Billy considers him family. Kind of.
Tommy and Billy are basically physically identical but can be distinguished firstly by their hair and eye colour, secondly by the fact that Tommy spends a lot more of his time looking smug, and thirdly by Billy being quite a bit scrawnier than his brother – running builds muscles; magic does not.
Rorschach - AAAHHH. What is with this guy? Billy has no idea and isn't sure he wants to find out. Future plans involving Rorschach include: avoiding him like the plague.
Inara Serra - Inara helped Billy get rid of Rorschach, so she's cool. Generally she's someone he trusts and respects and oh, man, he is really sorry she had to put up with Tommy, ever. He feels like he owes her extra for that.
Willow Rosenberg - GAY JEWISH MAGIC BUDDIES \o\
Kate Bishop (Hawkeye) - Like Tommy, Kate is another member of the Young Avengers. Unlike Tommy, Kate is someone Billy respects a whole lot as a friend and a teammate and he's glad to know she's here for more than just a familiar face – he knows she's competent and smart and that she'll almost definitely be more help when it comes to actually getting out of here (and when it comes to his staying sane as long as they still can't leave) than most other people he knows.
Temeraire - Billy found him sleeping outside Bryant Park Hotel and now they are friends. Billy has kind of invited him to join the Young Avengers so as to stop them losing to the Runaways in reptile contests. Billy reads Temeraire comic books, and Temeraire gives Billy ridiculous coats in an effort to make him look nice. This is probably a lost cause.
Megan Gwynn (Pixie) - Magic teleporting mutant high five! Billy has a comparatively privileged experience of mutant-dom, though, one that involves much less all his friends dying, so prepare for him to put his foot in his mouth about that.
Peter Parker (Spider-Man) - HOLY SHIT IT'S SPIDER-MAN I mean. Uh. Billy is a little bit in awe of the fact that Spider-Man, but slightly weirded out that this Spider-Man is younger – and less experienced as a super hero - than he is. He'll probably get over both these things but might have to stop wearing Spider-Man socks.
