Appearance
Orlando is a largeish tomcat with eyes described as being "like twin green gooseberries" and a fine set of whiskers. His fur is a marmalade colour paling to a soft yellow on his belly and throat, and he is marked all over with curved tabby stripes and spots. He often, although not always, wears a watch on his tail, and, although he is built like a normal cat and normally walks on all fours, he is capable of walking on his hind legs and using his forepaws to grasp, gesture and manipulate things with about as much competence as a human.
Background
Prior to his unexpected arrival in Manhattan, Orlando lived a comfortable life with his Master, his wife Grace, and his three kittens, Blanche, Pansy and Tinkle, in a large, well-off house in Suffolk, England. Neither he nor any member of his family ever objected to being owned by a human. As far as Orlando is concerned that is just how things are, although this doesn't mean he feels he ought to have an owner in Manhattan any more than he feels he ought to have a new wife – and he certainly wouldn't want that. He is absolutely devoted to Grace. They fell in love at first sight and were wed the day after they met, and have been happily married for two years now.
Besides being an all-round decent sort of fellow, Orlando is ... well, he's the hero of a series of children's picture books, so his adventures are manifold and unusual. His exploits have included flying a magic carpet to the North Pole, single-handedly (-pawedly?) saving a ship full of people from a storm at sea, running a prize-winning farm, accidentally sailing to France and saving a circus, among other things. He's used to his peculiar hijinks being in bright, rich colour and having a happy ending, though, so he finds Manhattan rather bleak and miserable sometimes – but he always does his best to keep his chin up, even when he misses his family terribly. While he may be occasionally surprised by some of the peculiar sorts who turn up in Manhattan, he takes even the very bizarre in his stride – especially since so many people seem shocked by the fact that he can talk. He treats others as he would like to be treated: with consideration, politeness, and as much open-mindedness as possible. Being polite to Orlando will immediately put you in his good books, because he finds far too many people are rather inconsiderate in this respect.
Although, what with being a stickler for manners and holding 1940s family values, Orlando might sometimes seem stuffy, he gets bored easily and is given to impulsive turns of adventure and curiosity – it has yet to kill him, but it has certainly got him into trouble now and then. He's been lucky enough not to get bitten in half by a crab so far, but he's learning to watch it.
When he arrived in Manhattan, he initially took up residence in an abandoned internet café, where he enjoyed the reassuring 'purr' of the computers. However, after the Big Fucking Attack he moved to Madison Square Garden to offer what furry, pettable comfort he could to those wounded. Since then he was invited by Kuwabara to stay at 225 W. 57th St., where he now lives with Kuwabara, Celes, Botan, Chad and Ashe.
Skills & Abilities
As a cat, he is, of course, agile, quick and flexible, but Orlando possesses no supernatural abilities beyond the fact that he is a talking cat with superfeline dexterity. Where he comes from, however, this is quite normal. In his canon, he has demonstrated improbable good fortune and aptitude for things he's never tried before, such as sailing a ship, being a judge, running a farm, and so on, but Manhattan is not a picture book, and he can't pull things like this off with quite such impossible good luck. (That said, though, he'd probably still make a better judge than the one certain inhabitants of Manhattan are used to.)
Weaknesses
Thanks to ... well, being a normal-sized cat, Orlando is by no means strong enough to fight off a crab parasite or indeed most of Manhattan's other inhabitants. While he is capable of picking things up, most weapons are too large for him to be able to effectively wield. He can also be quite reckless, and his tendency be much less questioning of those with good manners makes him easy to manipulate (as does his belief that he's an excellent judge of character simply based on whether somebody is a cat person or not). He has a predictable feline weakness for predictable feline things like fish, dairy products and string.

Character Relations

Orlando doesn't have much in the way of specific good friends, but he'll happily go out of his way to help – or even just try to cheer up – anyone in Manhattan, regardless of whether or not he already knows them.
Demyx - The first person on Manhattan to shake Orlando by the paw. Peculiar haircut, but good manners, and that's what counts.
Giselle - Such a kind, sweet lady! Orlando is a little wary of her husband, but is sure he must be a decent sort if he's married to Giselle.
Riku - Orlando privately thinks Riku could do with cutting his hair and pulling his trousers up, but he's such a nice, polite, respectful young man that he wouldn't bring it up.
Maya Fey - A nice if somewhat baffling young lady. Got off on the right foot by declaring she loved cats straight off the bat. Orlando is easily pleased that way.
Harry Dresden - A respectable fellow, and a cat-owner, too – Orlando doesn't talk to him often but from what he's seen of him Harry is definitely in his good books.
Kurosaki Ichigo - Could do with swearing less (a lot less), but Orlando thinks he's a decent young man despite that – he's especially willing to forgive Ichigo's ill manners after learning he lost his mother when he was younger.
Zidane Tribal – A decent young man. Orlando likes the cut of his jib.
James Sunderland - Odd fellow, but seemed decent enough ...
Iris Hawthorne - A very polite, gentle young lady who pet his head and everything. A+, would nuzzle again.
Dahlia Hawthorne - Didn't seem quite as friendly as her sister when he met them, but Orlando is nonetheless surprised to see that so many people seem to consider her dangerous and evil. He's still not sure where he stands on the matter.
King Mickey - Orlando is totally impressed by royalty, and for all that he thinks Mickey talks a little oddly for a king, he considers him respectable and amiable. (Let's just not mention the mouse thing, shall we.)
Tobias - Some kind of bird/cat showdown is eventually in order. As far as Orlando knows for now, though, Tobias is simply a decent young man with a proper appreciation for meat.
Agent Spin - Orlando likes a fellow who can dance!
Ty Lee - And, indeed, a young lady who can dance. Orlando enjoys dancing ... and considers weaving around people's feet a valid way of getting a measure of their character. He has thus concluded that Spin and Ty Lee are both decent sorts.
Kazuma Kuwabara - A nice boy! A little over-enthusiastic, but Orlando is certain that his heart is in the right place – especially since Kuwabara offered him a place to stay ... and used to have a kitten. Confession of cat ownership is almost invariably an immediate way to get into Orlando's good books.
Celes Chere – As far as Orlando's concerned, a helpful, kind, polite young lady who he's glad to be sharing living quarters with.
Chii - The only other cat in Manhattan. Orlando thinks Chii is charming; he enjoys spending time with her and goes out of his way to look out for her and make sure she's okay. Although he's a little baffled as to why she insists she is not a cat but a person, Orlando doesn't really feel it is his place to challenge this belief.
Rorschach – Rude and unpleasant. Orlando does not approve of Rorschach in the slightest.
