In the second week of January 2009, Manhattan experienced an unexpected and unusual attack: from two monsters at once.

The first hint of this came when a building collapsed a couple of blocks east of Central Park, leaving a massive crater. As it turns out, a second monster was buried underneath. The next day, this new Cloverfield monster (nicknamed Herbie) burst out and went on a rampage through the city, destroying everything in its path. Herbie only calmed down when he caught up with Clover, and began following her down Park Ave. When Cloverfield disappeared again, Herbie panicked and continued the rampage before disappearing into the river.

The attack injured many characters, and completely destroyed some locations, including Grand Central Station and NYU Medical Center. St. Patrick's Cathedral and the New York Palace Hotel suffered severe damage from the monsters passing through their area. The citizens of Manhattan are still debating on where this second monster could have come from, and why it attacked the city unprovoked.
